Water column is typically measured in millimeters (mm). For example, a fabric with a water column of 20,000mm is considered to be highly waterproof, meaning it will provide excellent protection against rain and other forms of precipitation, even in heavy rain or prolonged exposure to water. A fabric with a water column of 10,000mm is considered to be water-resistant.
